Five Principals of Yoga
1. Proper Relaxation – By consciously relaxing the body and the mind, we recharge and refresh. This allows us to use our energy in a positive way in all daily activities.
2. Proper Exercise – By practicing asanas regularly, the entire body is kept supple and strong. Ligaments, tendons, muscles, joints and skeleton work in unison and maintain their strength and flexibility.
3. Proper Breathing – Practice deep, steady breathing, and eliminate shallow, quick breaths. Increasing our oxygen intake and controlling the breath allows the body to gain energy and reduce anxiety.
4. Proper Diet – Eat a diet rich in nutrients, consisting of mainly fresh and natural foods, including fruits, vegetables and whole grains. By eating healthy foods, our body’s immune system remains strong.
5. Proper Thinking – Practice positive thinking. By reducing or eliminating negative thoughts, our lives will move in a more positive direction.
